Monday, July 17 ws an eventful day and one that will be remembered for a long time by Bert Brainard. As he is making extensive improvements on his dwelling, it happened that on that day the carpenters decided to begin tearing down the old house which necessitated his moving out, that on that date he had made arrangements to go to Rossville and bring home his new automobile hearse, but instead took charge of a funeral in Crawfordsville that one that date 14 years ago he was married to Lynne Lynch and that on that date 43 years ago he was born. - typed by kbz

"New Hearse"

Bert Brainard and Sam Deck went to Sedalia Tuesday morning and then overland to Rossville where the new automobile hearse has been under construction for the past several months. Owing to a few details yet to be arranged the return trip was not started until 3 in the afternoon. After the homeward journey was well under way, trouble set in due to faulty electric wiring and it was 10 o'clock before they arrived home. The car is a beauty and a big addition to Brainard & Butler's undertaking equipment. -typed by kbz
